Insurance and Rates

First-time Clients:

We want to understand your needs and your vision for your therapeutic journey. In order to establish that relationship, you can start by reaching out to us and scheduling a discovery call. Our client support specialist will get a better understanding of your situation and match you with one of our therapists. We will schedule your first session together after all your questions are answered and you are ready to begin.

Good Faith Estimate

As of January 1, 2022: You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises

Master Interns

We offer services from our graduate-level interns as well. Our interns are supervised directly by the center director and owner, and they provide excellent therapeutic services. This is a great option if budget is a concern. We offer sliding scale fees and charge anywhere from $25 to $100 per session. Since we do not accept insurance, this is our way to make therapy more accessible to those who cannot financially go outside of their insurance network but still need excellent mental health care.

Payment

Before your first session, our client support specialist will put your debit/credit/HSA card on file through Square. We do not charge for sessions until the day after the session occurred. Our payment method is HIPAA-compliant, and all your information will be kept confidential, secured, and private.

Sliding Scale Fees

Some of our therapists do have spaces for clients who cannot pay full price. When you contact us, let our client support specialist know if you need a sliding scale. They will pair you with the right therapist for your needs and your finances.

Cancellation Policy

We require at least 24 hours notice before you cancel a session. If you cancel your appointment less than 24 hours beforehand, you will be charged the full price for the session.

Insurance

Our providers do not accept insurance, but we can create a superbill for the services provided to you. That superbill will detail a diagnosis, the service provided, the cost of the session, and confirmation that you paid for it. You can file this superbill with your insurance company if they cover out-of-network providers. Please consult with your insurance company to make sure they will accept the receipt. They often provide partial and sometimes full reimbursement for services when you file a superbill.

Why don’t we take insurance?

  • Reduced choices for care: If you only look for providers covered by your insurance, your choices will be very limited. When deciding who to see for therapeutic services, it’s best to work with someone you feel confident and comfortable working with. Additionally, you often have to justify the therapeutic services you receive to an insurance representative who may or may not have mental health experience or expertise. In other words, your care should not be decided by an agent assigned to you who does not have the expertise to make that decision.

  • Pre-Authorization and Reduced Confidentiality: Insurance companies can decided that you no longer need therapeutic services and deny further sessions before you have made enough progress on your journey. In order to get the approval to continue sessions, you might have to provide additional information about why you need to continue care. This means your insurance agent could be privy to information you only want disclosed to your therapist while working with them in session. We cannot ensure confidentiality when dealing with insurance.

  • Potential Negative Impacts: In order to reimburse you, insurance companies will require you to disclose your diagnosis. If your therapist diagnoses you with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or any other mental health diagnosis, that will create official documentation and record of that diagnosis with your insurance company. This could impact you in the following ways:

    • Denial of disability or life insurance

    • The company may not properly control the information while processing claims, exposing your information.

    • Loss of confidentiality due to the number of people handling your claim and privy to your information.

    • Official documentation of a diagnosis could affect your current employment, your ability to find another job, applying for financial aid, or applying for concealed weapons permits.

    • Your diagnosis could be used in court against you.

Additionally, some insurance companies will not provide reimbursement based on your diagnosis. They simply don’t cover for certain services or psychiatric care.

If you still need to work with a therapist who takes your insurance, please let us know. We will do our best to recommend a therapist within your network.
